Batman and Superman know what’s up.

Batman, shadowy alter ego of millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, is one of the most complex and recognized crime fighters in the superhero pantheon. Using skill, intelligence, and training as his super powers, he brings justice to the streets of Gotham City. Use this exclusive poster to remind your patrons to go above and beyond and read!

Happy birthday to me!

In addition to this, I also went on a fiction shopping spree and picked up some of my favorite books to add to my bookshelf collection~

  • The Name of the Wind (Kingkiller Chronicles #1) by Patrick Rothfuss
A newer — but AWESOME — fantasy writer, and his Kingkiller Chronicles series is amaaazing. I highly recommend it.  Also, the rapport between Bast and Kvothe is adorable.
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
I haven’t read this yet, but I’ve heard nothing but great things about the series so I thought I’d give it a go!
  • The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle
Do I really need to say anything?  If you haven’t read TLU (or watched the animated movie, which is also fantastic) then you’re really missing out on something special.  *Loves*

I also ordered copies of:

  • Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast by Robin McKinley
A really wonderful version of the BatB tale.  This was my favorite book back in Junior High.
  • Batman: Lovers and Madmen by Michael Green
I love Green’s take on the Joker’s origin story and his writing is top notch.  And even though I’m usually a Jim Lee fangirl, there’s something about Denys Cowan’s gritty art style that fits this story so well~

*Glee!*

Speaking of a certain spectacular caped crusader, here’s a photo of the snazzy Batman library display case that a friend and I created for one of our classes this term!  (Part of the same project we did our Terry Pratchett’s Discworld board for a while back.)  We would have liked to include some children’s easy-reader books in it as well, but we ran out of room.  :P

Loveth the library displays!  USE THEM.  *Shakes fist*  They’re a lot of work but offer a lot of creative freedom too, and are great way to draw attention to different collections and materials.
